Reading now...

I'm on p. 359 out of 529 in Middlesex, by Jeffrey Eugenides. I was given this book over a year ago and had picked it up many times. But, I just couldn't get through the first chapter those first couple attempts. This time I succeeded and am thankful that I did so. This novel goes through generations of a family detailing immigration, assimilation, and childhood development. I have read some reviews to find parts of the book to be very disturbing. I think that the book is beautiful and you really get to know the characters through the author's development of them. The narrator of the book has issues with final steps in her development and due to this she learns the secrets within her family.
